F1: Legard approval rating revealed by Virgil Ellipse
24th Jul 2009
A report on F1 fans' reactions to the BBC's coverage of the sport reveals that the corporation's main commentator now has a level of popularity only slightly higher than that of XXX Mosley.

Having initially neared a 100% approval rating, which researchers assumed was because anyone other than Jar-Jar Allen was likely to score very highly indeed, Jonathan Legard now enjoys a rating of around 11 percent, only slightly above the single-figure score recently recorded by that unapologetic whoremonger of an FIEh? president.

When asked about what annoyed them most, respondents highlighted several of Legard's verbal tics, although the report's authors point out that while Legard undeniably irks viewers, he only uses a handful of irritating phrases, whereas Jar-Jar Allen had enough to fill a dictionary and gave every impression that his spare time was devoted to thinking up new ones.

The report's conclusion gives Legard some advice, stating that he could significantly improve his popularity simply by reading races instead of just telling fans what they can already see, not repeating Martin Brundle's observations as if they were his own and just generally being much more like Ben Edwards.
