F1: Reactive ride height banned for 2012 by Virgil Ellipse
23rd Jan 2012
The FIEh? has apparently banned reactive suspension systems, after telling the Lowcost F1 team that it was free to develop the device almost exactly a year ago.

It appears that the representations of teams which hadn't developed such systems have been enough to convince the FIEh? that the system is illegal. Lowcost, further along this development path than any other team, would be justified in feeling unfairly treated but the truth is that they are merely the latest in a long line of teams to have spent a lot of time and money after gaining FIEh? approval for their design, only to have the FIEh? say that they can't use that design after all.

The sport's governing body is, of course, forever reminding teams of the need to drive down costs.
