One day in April 2003 we received an e-mail from the delightful Sarah Jane Thompson, in which she was more complimentary and enthusiastic about the site than we had a right to expect. E-mails were exchanged and it became apparent that Sarah's brother is
Andrew Thompson, a young chap from Dumbarton who only happened to be driving for Hitech in British Formula 3.
One thing led to another and just a month after that initial e-mail, Andrew's car was taking to the track at Silverstone, enhanced by some go-faster dots and a comma. Barely eighteen months on from the site's birth, the dotdotdotcomma logo had made it to the nosecone of a championship-class British F3 car. We were on the ecstatic side of euphoric, as you can imagine.
Andrew, Sarah, their parents and the Hitech team made us very welcome for the whole weekend and the mechanics didn't even complain when they tripped over us for the eighth time while we were getting in their way taking pictures and they were trying to prepare the cars for the race.
This is just a small selection of the countless pictures we took when we'd calmed down enough to remember how our cameras worked, along with some other photos we took over the course of the next season and a half.
