A1GP:
Team Portugal confirm Albuquerque
by Mathias Olaf Uncertain
15th Jul 2008
Hot dog! Jumping frog! The motorracing community reacts to the news that Albuquerque is in New Mexico.
The
FIEh?
has chosen A1GP's Team Portugal to lead an initiative to counter media accusations that motorsport professionals have a very sketchy grasp of contemporary geography, as a result of that country's historical expertise at expedition, discovery, fortified wine-making and not much else.
Early results are promising, with Team Portugal already having confirmed that Albuquerque is in New Mexico in those United States.
"It was a tough assignment," said Portugal's team principal Luis Vicente. "A couple of hundred miles away is a place where four states meet in one place, and away to the south is a whole different country that has a similar name. It's all quite confusing.
Vicente confirmed that the team will continue their technical partnership with Team Great Britain, despite suspecting that the existence of the entire nation might be a conspiracy of cartographers.
"We think they may have some kind of encyclopaedia," he said. "That'll help."
