GBR: Rider, Goodman to cover BTCC by Mathias Olaf Uncertain
24th Mar 2009
Steve Rider and Louise Goodman will join Ben Edwards and former champion Tim Harvey in ITV's commentating line-up for the British Touring Car Championship this year.

Goodman had been one of the stars of ITV's Formula 1 coverage over the past years, alongside Rider, but Formula 1 in Britain will return to its rightful place on the BBC from this year.

"It's particularly satisfying to be involved in a sport which is always strong on storylines, personalities, humour and controversy," said Rider. "However, I surmise that BTCC will have to suffice for the present."

"The chemistry the BTCC delivers is unsophisticated," he went on as only Steve Rider can, "thus making it easily accessible for a casual motor sport audience, which is of great importance. Discuss, with particular reference to the proposition that the BTCC is perhaps the one series that has brought the general public flooding back into race circuits across the UK and very probably also breathed new life into some of those circuits."

Goodman, ITV's F1 pitlane reporter, had last presented coverage of the BTCC in 2007.

"Bad luck, Louise," she said.

Only one member of the former ITV-F1 crew remains without a job next year. dotdotdotcomma can't imagine why the calls aren't flooding in for the pathetic, fawning, dribbling, little t... tifoso.
