circuit onomatopoeia

If you've ever wondered how racing circuits were named and you came to the conclusion that a track was simply called after the nearest town, village or the chap who happened to build it, we're afraid that you were well wide of the mark. Almost every circuit in the world has been named to sound like something that happens before, during or after a race. Try saying "Seeeepannnnnng" without it sounding like a car passing you at high speed (complete with Doppler effect) and you'll understand what we're on about. Here, for the uninitiated, is a list to illustrate the point:

CircuitWhat it sounds likePronunciation guide

(braking into a corner and changing down three gears)
Macauall of the above

Use this handy telemetry trace to help you get the hang of the idea before you unveil your new talent and impress friends and family alike. The trace actually represents a lap of the now legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit by an unusually gifted (just look at the way he takes Eau Rouge flat) but tragically overlooked talent, who now scratches a living co-editing a highly disreputable motorsport satire site.

Each of the individual traces can be turned on and off using the checkboxes on the key, which you may or may not find useful.

All together now: reeeeeeeEEEIMSthruxton! reeeEEEIMSthruxton! reeeEEEIMSthruxton! seeeeeeEEEPAAAaaaang suuuuuuuzuka suzuka suzuka SPA! reeeeeEEEIMS etc.

Any suggestions?
