The motor-racing world was swamped beneath a tsunami of indifference today with the news that Spanish soccerball club Sevilla will replace Al Ain in the Superleague Formula's team line-up from this weekend's Donington Park races.
Esteban Guerrieri, who, some readers might have difficulty recalling, won on his series debut with Al Ain at Zolder earlier this month, will remain on board in the car's interesting new colours.
"For sure," said the Argentinian driver. "It doesn't really make much difference to me."
The move marks a return to the championship for Sevilla, which, as no-one really noticed at the time, it is worth reminding people, took a victory at Donington and finished 10th in the inaugural series with Borja Garcia last winter.
Al Ain's exit comes despite, in case you missed it, Miguel Molina and Guerrieri having put the team second in the standings behind Liverpool after the first two meetings. Its departure means that Tottenham Hotspur and driver Craig Dolby will become the main title challengers.
"Will we?" said a surprised Dolby. "Blimey!
"And you say I'm driving for Spurs? How interesting..."
The excitement about leading the championship is palpable among Liverpool FC supporters.
"Eh?" said one scouser we spoke to. "Eh? Eh? Leading the championship?
"Fook that!" he added, delivering your correspondent a bubble-permed Glasgow kiss, "we're in the premiership, pal."
