F1: Pah!Really? to alter shape of rear tyres by Virgil Ellipse
21st Jul 2011
Pah!Really? has revealed plans to alter the shape of its rear tyres next year, in order to improve the wear rates.

Although the manufacturer has had positive reaction to its tyres' performance this season, motorsport boss Paul Hembery says that changes are on the drawing board for next year.

"We feel that as a shape, round has already been done as far as tyres go," he explained. "Our simulations indicate that with a triangular or square tyre, we would see much less wear - none, in fact - because the cars would be unable to move at all."

In related news, F1 wheel suppliers OZ and BBS have announced that they will pool their efforts over the winter to see if they can reinvent their products.
